Vale Parish - Permanent 25mph Speed Limit

Wednesday 31 December 2014

The Environment Department is advising motorists that it will be introducing a new traffic regulation, with effect from 1st January 2015, to make the 25mph speed limits permanent for roads in the vicinity of and including Route des Coutures, Summerfield Road and North Quay.

The speed limit changes were initially implemented as a 12 month experiment during which the public were able to submit written comments on the scheme.  The Environment Department Department received no correspondence in relation to the experiment and has decided to permanently keep the lower speed limit in place.

A spokesperson for the Department said:

"The Route des Coutures, Summerfield Road and North Side areas can be busy places for traffic and pedestrian movements due to retail, commerce, residential and school activities and a lower speed limit will hopefully help to improve road safety in these areas."
