Environment Department response to media enquiry from BBC Radio Guernsey.
BBC Radio Guernsey Enquiry:
We have been sent this photo from the Guet and want to know why it hasn't been emptied in so long?
Environment Department Response:
The contractor has confirmed that there was a relief driver on the bin emptying route over the New Year holiday weekend and unfortunately this bin was missed out. The Environment Department was made aware of the problem by the Castel Constables yesterday and the contractor cleared the area yesterday afternoon. The Department regrets the inconvenience caused to dog walkers and to the general public for this lapse in service.
Fortunately this is a rare occurrence but the Department always welcomes information of a problem with a coastal litterbin or dog bin as soon as possible so that it can be rectified, either through a call to the Department on 717200 (office hours) or to env@gov.gg.
