Media Enquiry from BBC Radio Guernsey:
I've been told the new driving theory test CD-ROM, which has been specially produced for tests in Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man, isn't compatible with Apple computers.
Obviously, lots of homes in the island have Apples rather than PCs. Please could you tell me why that decision was made and what provision is being made for those who don't have compatible computers?
Environment Department Response:
The Theory CD-Rom is not compatible with Apple computers but in view of the relatively low number of users that purely have access to Apple home computers, the decision was taken by the three islands to progress with the production of the currently formatted CD-ROM. However, it was acknowledged that there is an increasingly high number of i-phone and i-pad users (which cannot accept CD-Roms) and it would therefore be appropriate as a second phase for an 'App' to be considered. This is something that is currently being worked on and may be available later on this year.
