Media Enquiry from Guernsey Press:
I wondered whether the department could answer some questions for us regarding the engineer's report into the Town Quay courtesy crossing.
Can the department confirm who the engineer/engineers were? What company were they from? Where is the company based? Were they independent?
Also, would it be possible for Environment to send us the full report?
Environment Department's Response:
The report was compiled by Ove Arup and Partners Ltd (Arup) whose S/W regional office is located in Bristol. Arup has provided traffic management advice on numerous previous schemes in Guernsey for both public and private clients, including proposed developments at Les Nicolles Schools, Admiral Park, Bouet MURA and Belgreve Vinery.
In addition to the currently proposed interim measures, the Arup report also discusses potential longer term options for the site and this is something that is due to be considered at the next meeting of the Town Seafront Working Party in September. It is therefore the Department's intention to release the report after it has been fully considered by the Working Party.
