Environment response to Guernsey Press media query
Media Enquiry from Guernsey Press:
I had a quick enquiry regarding Sunday Trading.
Given the fact that all shops will be able to open under the deregulation of Sunday Trading, are there plans to check and enforce parking on Sundays now?
Environment Department Response:
This matter has not been discussed by the Board of the Environment Department and so at this stage, decisions in this respect have not been taken. Parking controls are generally introduced where competition for parking spaces necessitates a degree of control. Whether Sunday trading will necessitate a change to parking controls is not yet clear. Clearly controls have no value if not enforced and so any possible changes will be discussed with the Home Department in the first instance.
