The Home Department's statement of purpose is to "use all available resources to build and protect a safe and just society for all the people of the Bailiwick."

Mandate & Service-Delivery

The Department has a wide portfolio and covers a diverse range of services and activities. The Department's mandate is delivered through 7 Business Units, or Operational Service Areas:

Each of these Operational Service Areas has its own set of operational objectives and its own Service Head. Further information on each of these Operational Service Areas can be obtained by following the related links at the side of this page.

Additional Responsibilities

*The Home Department acts as a conduit through which the independent Data Protection Commissioner can approach the States Assembly.

Central Services

The Central Services Division is located at Les Vardes House in La Charroterie.

Central Services provides centralised support to the Operational Service Areas (HR, IT, Finance) and is the area through which policy, legislation, project management and the Department's additional responsibilities are primarily administered.

The Chief Officer of the Home Department is based at Central Services
