Policy and Research involves providing and analysing information to help politicians and Services make important decisions about the way we live in Guernsey and to help plan for the future.
Opportunities exist across a wide range of interests and offer plenty of variety and intellectual stimulation. Work can involve analysing figures and statistics, reading past papers published by the States or papers and journals published externally, communication with other jurisdictions and writing and producing new reports.
The nature of these roles give officers the chance to work closely with Guernsey's politicians and gain comprehensive understanding of the area in which they work.
Policy and research staff are required in all areas in order to help inform planning, decision making and strategy. The range of jobs that fall in this sector include; Drug and Alcohol Strategy Coordinator, Policy and Environment Manager, Policy and Legislation Officer and Town and Country Planning Officers. In particular the Policy Council employs a number of Policy and Research staff in order to help produce reports, including the States Strategic Plan, and to collect and publish facts and figures about the islands population, economy and environment.
