The 2015 waste management report has been published.
Key highlights for the 12 months to 31 December 2015 include:-
- The amount of waste entering Mont Cuet fell 9%, to see the lowest annual total recorded.
- Household 'black bag' waste has fallen by nearly 900 tonnes since the introduction of kerbside recycling.
- In a relatively dry year, green waste was down 10% compared to the five year average. This had a significant impact on the household recycling rate - down from 49.1% to 47.8%.
- The start of waste exports by the private sector made a major contribution to the decline in overall waste to landfill.
