Time is running out for nurses and health visitors working in Guernsey and Alderney to register with HSC.
HSC would like to thank the 420 nurses and health visitors who have completed their registrations and remind those who haven't that the deadline date of 31 March 2017 is looming.
The Registered Health Professionals Ordinance, 2006 requires HSC to maintain a register of all regulated health professionals. HSC must be satisfied that individuals practicing in Guernsey and Alderney have the necessary qualifications and training to practice before they are added to this register. This register, which will be published here: www.gov.gg/healthprofessionalregisters, will enable the public to check the local registration of health professionals concerned with their care.
The establishment of the registers of health professional ensures an open and transparent system whereby the community can assure itself of the quality of registered health professionals that are delivering their care each and every day. For example, a nurse may have a condition placed on their registration that means they can only practice in the UK. The local registration ensures that only health professionals who can work in Guernsey and Alderney do so.
There is no charge for the registration. Forms are available online www.gov.gg/healthprofessionalregisters or can be obtained by contacting Linda Nel on 725241 or email linda.nel@gov.gg . Forms must be returned by 31 March 2017.
