Tax coding notices will no longer be sent to islanders who receive personal tax allowances only, the Income Tax Service has confirmed.
The change follows States approval last month of The Income Tax (Guernsey) (Employees Tax Instalment Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations, 2017.
Income Tax staff begin issuing coding notices at this time of year, and as such wanted taxpayers receiving the personal tax allowance only to be aware that they will not receive one through the post.
Employers and pension providers will still be advised of the allowances due in the normal way, to ensure they deduct the right amount of tax before they pay wages/pension in January 2018.
The change will reduce printing costs by about £5,000 and will remove unnecessary paperwork being sent to customers.
There will be a 'coding notice clinic' held on Monday 20 November at Edward T Wheadon House from 9am to 4pm, which is aimed to help raise awareness and answer any questions customers have.
