Election of a President of the Committee for Economic Development

The States are asked:

To elect a sitting Member of the States as President of the Committee for  Economic Development to complete the unexpired term of office of Deputy P. T. R. Ferbrache who has resigned from that office, that is to the 30th June 2020, in accordance with Rule 16 of The Rules of Procedure of the States of Deliberation and their Committees, as set out in Section 1 thereof.

(N.B.

1.  Pursuant to the Constitution of the Committee for Economic Development, a President of the Board shall not be the President or a member of the Policy & Resources Committee nor the President of the Scrutiny Management Committee nor the President or a member of the Transport Licensing Authority. 

2. Pursuant to paragraph 4 of Rule 16 of The Rules of Procedure of the States of Deliberation and their Committees the election will be conducted as follows:

             (a) The Presiding Officer will invite Members to propose eligible candidates and another Member must second each nomination;

             (b) In respect of each candidate in turn, the Presiding Officer will invite first the proposer to speak for not more than five minutes following which the candidate may speak for not more than ten minutes.  Thereafter, if there are two or more candidates, he will allow Members to question the candidates, subject to the provisos in the Rules.) 

Note:

Pursuant to Rule 3(2) the Bailiff has determined that this Proposition shall appear in the Billet d'État to be issued for the December Meeting of the States.
