There will be a distinctive sci-fi flavour at this year's Winter Fayre at Castle Cornet.
During the weekend at the Castle, you might meet Jedi Knights posing as Christmas elves or create your own Dr Who themed festive decorations. The inspiration for the seasonal sci-fi theme comes from the current exhibition on now at Candie: Engage Warp Drive!
At the heart of the wintry celebrations is the Craft Fair in the Hatton Gallery. Visitors will be able to enjoy seasonal shopping at ease in this beautiful historic hall. The Maritime Museum next door will play host to several acoustic acts during the weekend including James Dumbelton, carol singing and students from the School of Popular Music. There will be Castle tours on offer during the weekend too. Mince pies and mulled wine will be on sale in the café, alongside the usual selection of light lunches.
Children will be well catered for in the Amherst Room, where families can make their own festive decorations with a sci-fi theme. A Santa's grotto will be created in a rather unusual part of the Castle and we are even hoping to see some Guernsey donkeys on one of the days during the weekend. There'll also be Face painting by Joni on Saturday and dressing up available for the entire weekend.
The Winter Fayre takes place at Castle Cornet on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November from 10am to 4pm. The admission rate will be £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children, but Discovery Pass holders and accompanying children are admitted free.
Visitors are advised to check the timetable on the website www.museums.gov.gg or the Museum Facebook page. Other than the Winter Fayre the Castle is now closed for the winter.
