Pay deal with Unite members

Friday 23 February 2018

Statement from Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq, who leads on pay matters for the Policy & Resources Committee, said:

'I'm pleased we have been able to conclude a deal with Unite the Union in respect of 1,000 or so Public Service Employees in a timely manner.

'Under the terms of the agreement all PSEs will see their pay increase by 2% from the beginning of 2018. I believe this is a good deal for both States of Guernsey and our employees. Naturally I was particularly pleased that the negotiators from Unite, which included both the full time official and a number of senior stewards, agreed with this by strongly recommending their members support the offer.

'This is now the fourth significant pay deal that the Committee has concluded in respect of 2018. I hope that, in respect of other groups still to settle for 2017, we will be able to collectively follow this lead so that deals for both last year and 2018 can be agreed without further delay. It is to the benefit of employees that new rates are implemented as soon as possible. We continue to work with those groups to achieve our collective aims.'
