Work to repoint the wall at Rocque Poisson will begin on Monday 11 June, with work to erect the compound starting Thursday 7 June. This work forms part of the capital programme to repair, and where necessary upgrade, the existing coastal defence infrastructure.
The contractor appointed to the works at Rocque Poisson is Vaudin Stonemasons. The works will entail the repointing of the wall on both the seaward and landward sides from the slipway at Rocque Poisson (the large rock extending above the wall to the south of L'Eeree Hotel), to the shingle bank on the landward side of the road.
The works will be conducted in a manner that does not require traffic signal control, however there will be some disruption whilst roadside working is undertaken - this will be managed through clear road signing. Drivers are advised to pass with caution for both the workers and other roads users safety.
The nature of the works are likely to give rise to increased dust and noise that will take place during normal working hours. Users of the area are asked to be observant and follow all safety and information signs present on the site.
During the period of these works there will be scaffolding on the seaward side of the wall at all times. Please do not climb on, swing from, jump from or otherwise use this scaffolding and ensure children are supervised at all times around the scaffold.
A site compound will be present at the southern end of the works for the duration.
The coastal infrastructure works at Rocque Poisson will take approximately twenty eight weeks.
