Tuesday 16 April 2019
Enjoy an evening at Candie after-hours with live music, living history and folklore.
The extended opening on Monday 29 April marks two years since the opening of the museum's Folklore Gallery and also International Music Day.
Candie will remain open until 8pm and normal entry applies, so it's FREE for Discovery Pass holders. There are extra things to see and do during the evening and these include:
- Art for children (including making your own fairy doors to take away)
- Relaxing crafts for adults
- Live music in the galleries
- A chance to visit the entire museum, including the Folklore Gallery
6pm - A performance of 'Folklore of Guernsey' by the Guernsey History in Action Company.
7pm - A musical performance by local band Blue Mountains. Their varied repertoire features original, self-penned compositions alongside old time traditional songs, particularly those of the North American Appalachian region. The duo combine rich harmonies with inventive instrumentation to produce captivating music that is beautifully dark and haunting.
Jo Dowding, Access & Learning Manager, said:
'Events like this are great for those people who might find it tricky to access us during normal opening hours. Even if you've been many times before, there is also something very special about visiting a museum after closing time; perfect for the folklore theme!'
The Museum shop and Café Victoria will also stay open after 5pm. This evening is held in partnership with Guille-Allès Library and part of the Guernsey Heritage Festival's programme. Some of the evening's events will take part in the newly refurbished Frossard Theatre at Candie.
