Have you ever wondered what it's like to work in an operating theatre?
The College of Operating Department Practitioners (CODP) has declared that the 14 May 2019 will be the second ever National Operating Department Practitioner Day.
To mark this in Guernsey, Vicky Ogden who is the Practice Development Lead in Theatres has organised a variety of events to raise awareness of what goes on behind the closed theatre doors. Vicky is the most senior Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) in the hospital and is keen to let people know what this specialist team of professionals do each and every day in our operating theatres working alongside their nursing, medical and allied health professional colleagues.
As well as a display outside the Emma Ferbrache Room at the PEH detailing who the ODPs are, what they do, where they have trained and worked etc, Vicky has organised a display stand to raise awareness at the Co-Op Grand Marche on Tuesday 14th May and a member of the team will be on hand. On that day, a member of the ODP team will also be available outside the Emma Ferbrache Room to talk about the services they provide.
