General Manager - Ports Colin Le Ray said:
"On the 2nd July 2019 Guernsey Airport experienced a low-level security incident. As result, the airport departure lounge had to be vacated shortly after 17:30 local time.
Whilst the incident is under investigation, it does appear passengers on an arriving Alderney flight were incorrectly handled and asked to wait in departures, rather than being escorted through into arrivals. This is not in accordance with protocol and led to the risk of a potential breach of security.
Due to this incident, around 150 passengers were required to be re-screened at security.
The re-screening of passengers and baggage was entirely necessary and ensured compliance with aviation security standards.
Six flights were delayed; including the last departing London Gatwick flight, which left around 50 minutes late, this time, was largely recovered by close, with the last flights landing back in Guernsey by 21:10 local time.
This incident was not related in any way to our general security provision."
