Members of the community are encouraged to check their washing machines

A fire recently broke out in a States Property, Shotley Villa, resulting in extensive damage to that property.

Luckily, there were no injuries and all residents managed to escape due to the early warning of the fire alarm system. Investigations are ongoing. However, it appears that the cause was as a result of a fault with their washing machine.

In the UK, a number of Whirlpool and Indesit washing machines bought since October 2014 are currently being recalled. Therefore, Islanders are being encouraged to check which washing machine they own and if it is one of the faulty appliances, to contact the local supplier and arrange for their machine to be checked. The model and serial numbers of the appliance can normally be found either on the back of the machine or inside the door.
