Election 2020 needs volunteers to help run the polling stations and assist with the count.
Because of the move to Island-wide voting more people are needed than in previous years. The election team is looking to recruit volunteers now ready to train in time for the October election.
Colette Falla, Registrar-General of Electors said:
"Running a smooth election depends on having a dedicated team of helpers. We already have support from our parish volunteers and we're extremely grateful to them, but because we have more polling days and polling stations for the 2020 General Election, we need more people to staff them. We're looking for friendly and enthusiastic people and would like potential volunteers to get in touch now and register their interest."
Volunteers will be needed to do various jobs at various locations, from issuing ballot papers or directing people flow at polling stations, to opening ballot boxes at the count. All volunteers will be given training and will be asked to give a minimum four hour time commitment.
Anyone interested in volunteering over the election period (from 3 October onwards) should get in touch with the Election 2020 Office by emailing elections@gov.gg or call 01481 747579.
