The new Committee for Employment & Social Security has held its first formal Committee meeting and has elected Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez as Vice-President.
Deputy Peter Roffey, President of the Committee for Employment & Social Security, said:
'Lindsay is well-known to both her colleagues on the Committee and the wider community as someone who is passionate, driven and on top of her brief. Our Committee has a great mix of experience and new States Members, and Lindsay's election as Vice-President will further support the development of what I think will be a really effective team. It will be particularly useful to have the President of the Committee responsible for general housing policy serving as Vice-President of the Committee responsible for social housing.'
Deputy de Sausmarez said:
'I'm really pleased to have been elected as Vice-President of the Committee for Employment & Social Security. Combined with my role as President of the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure, I'm delighted to have won the support of my colleagues for these positions in committees whose mandates I care deeply about. We have some big-ticket issues to tackle this term and I'm committed to playing my part in what I am sure will be an excellent team.'
