The guaranteed first prize in this year's Channel Islands Christmas Lottery has now risen to £640,000.
With a week to go until the draw, the top prize will continue to rise as ticket sales increase across the Channel Islands.
Local proceeds from the draw will help support worthy causes in the Bailiwick.
Jon Taylor, Senior Lottery Officer for States' Trading Group, who operate the Lottery, said:-
"We are seeing excitement starting to build and the first prize is rising nicely. The structure of the draw this Christmas reflects the feedback that we received from a pan-Island survey undertaken earlier this year. 82% of respondents felt that the ticket price should be reduced from £3 to £2, but that we should retain as many prizes as possible. That is what we have done."
"As well as the top prize, there will be 66 other prizes in the main draw. That is in addition to the 225,000 instant wins from the scratch card element of the tickets."
"The main purpose of the Christmas Draw is to generate funds for local worthy causes, and we hope that by reflecting the feedback from lottery supporters, we can boost that total."
The distribution of Lottery proceeds are managed by the Social Investment Fund (SIF). Its chairman, Jurat Stephen Jones OBE, will be the Independent Observer at the live draw procedure.
Jurat Jones said that with the COVID 19 Pandemic affecting so many local charities, the CI Lottery proceeds were important support for worthy causes in the Bailiwick.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Association of Guernsey Charities for their involvement in distributing lottery proceeds over the years. We will be working closely with them to ensure we support as many worthy causes as we can in 2021."
The draw takes place in Guernsey on Thursday 17 December, live on Channel TV from 6pm.
