CI Lottery Christmas Draw First Prize reaches £400,000

Monday 29 November 2021

The guaranteed first prize in this year's Channel Islands Christmas Lottery has now risen to £400,000.

As in previous years the guaranteed first prize will continue to grow as the number of tickets sold across the Channel Islands rises. Local lottery agents are reporting sales are increasing significantly as the 23 December gets closer.

"Sales are picking up across the islands now and we expect the first prize will get up towards last year's first prize of £696,740 as we sell through our ticket allocation," said Ciara Devlin, Head of Lottery at Guernsey Post who distribute tickets in Guernsey.

Jon Taylor, Senior Lottery Officer for States Trading Group, who operate the Lottery in Guernsey, said: "Each year the Christmas Lottery raises large amounts of money to help local projects and good causes and we know that charities throughout the Channel Islands are extremely grateful to everyone who supports the Christmas game.

"The number of tickets sold in Guernsey for the 2020 Christmas draw saw an increase year on year, in part as a response to the return of the £2 ticket price, which has been maintained for the 2021 draw. However last year sales dipped in Jersey, because at the time they were unfortunately heading back into lockdown.

"This year we have also introduced an Advent Calendar instant game to complement the traditional Christmas draw game and tickets for this are selling well across the islands. That will help generate even greater returns for worthy causes through our Christmas operations in 2021."

The draw will take place in the Central Markets, Jersey on Thursday 23 December, live on ITV Channel TV from 6.00 pm.

Guernsey Post is providing a dedicated service for anyone who would like to buy blocks of tickets as part of a syndicate. This can be arranged by calling 01481 733570 or emailing jmeakin@guernseypost.com.
