Statement from Ed Ashton, Director of Operations for Social Security:
'We have had a problem with benefit payments which were due to be paid to approximately 1,000 islanders today. We have fixed the issue but unfortunately the payments will now arrive in bank accounts tomorrow instead. The payments relate to long-term sickness and parental benefits, such as the new-born care allowance and parental allowance. I apologise for this 24-hour delay in payments being made. If anyone is in a position of hardship as a result, please contact Social Security on 222507.'
