Over 500 activity packs will be available for free to local children in Guernsey to help celebrate the 77th Anniversary of Liberation Day.

Over 500 activity packs will be available for free to local children in Guernsey to help celebrate the 77th Anniversary of Liberation Day.

Local children are being encouraged to get into the Liberation Day spirit with the arts and crafts pack as they celebrate with friends and family. The initiative has been made possible with support from Credit Suisse.

The free packs will feature Liberation Day 'paint your pebble' packs and a Liberation activity booklet featuring themed crosswords, word searches, colouring activities and a cavalcade checklist.

Biodegradable hand waving Union Jack and Guernsey flags will also be available to collect for free, with families encouraged to wave them at the cavalcade as they pass on Liberation Day.

Deputy Sue Aldwell, Committee for Education, Sport and Culture, said: 'We are so pleased to be able to enable hundreds of children the chance to paint pebbles and to wave flags at the cavalcade. We encourage all to share pictures for everyone to enjoy'

Glen Tonks, Chief Executive at Credit Suisse Guernsey, said: 'We are delighted to be supporting children in the Bailiwick with the activity packs. We encourage all parents and guardians to pick up a pack, get creative with friends and family and enjoy the Liberation Day celebrations together as a community.'

The activity packs are limited to one per family so that as many children as possible can get involved.

The packs are free of charge and can be collected from Beau Sejour reception during the centre's opening hours from Monday 2nd May until Liberation Day on May 9th.
