More States IT systems have been restored today as disruption, caused by a failure of air-conditioning systems in the main server room, has eased in many areas.
All States of Guernsey websites are now fully operational with the services that are run through them, such as online payments, accessible to the public.
Revenue Service's Returns Creator, the system employers use for their monthly payroll, is now working. Internal States systems such as SAP, which is used for payroll, employee and manager processes and recruitment, have been restored.
Schools continue to experience difficulties in accessing WiFi, but core systems used in schools are working if users are connected to the local area network on a fixed cable. Restoring WiFi access in schools is a priority focus for engineers.
The failure of air conditioning systems in the server room on Friday caused the temperature to quickly rise, resulting in the server going into 'preservation mode' to ensure data was protected. While the forced shutdown successfully protected the server itself and safeguarded all data held by the States of Guernsey, it did cause significant performance issues across the States IT network.
Significant progress has been made to restore systems, with engineers needing to work on each individually to bring them back online. The vast majority of systems are now working as normal.
