Friday 16 December 2022

The guaranteed first prize in this year's Channel Islands Christmas Lottery has now climbed to £510,000.

Jon Taylor, Senior Lottery Officer said: "As we have seen in previous years sales have accelerated as the draw gets closer.  Resellers are anticipating a busy last few days ahead of the draw next Tuesday 20 December.

As well as the jackpot of more than half a million pounds, the draw will also include more than 60 other prizes, of between £500 and £50,000.

"Over recent years we have changed the format of prizes as a result of extensive pan island research carried out in 2020. Approximately 80% of respondents asked for more prizes and therefore more winners than before," said Mr Taylor.

As well as the drawn prizes, the ticket also includes the chance to win up to £5,000 on the scratchcard part of the ticket.  £650,000 of prizes will be paid out through the instant game.

Proceeds from the Channel Islands Lottery go to the Social Investment Fund, which provides financial support for local charities and good causes.

"The Lottery provides funding to the Social Investment Fund's small grants programme. Many charities and worthy causes have benefited in recent years and everyone involved in the CI Lottery instant games are proud of the significant funds we have raised," said Mr Taylor.

Applications for the next round of small grant applications will be open shortly. For further information visit www.sif.gg.

Local business and groups can still buy blocks of tickets as part of a syndicate, Guernsey Post provide a dedicated service. For more information call 01481 733570.
