Castle and other seasonal sites open for the summer

Tuesday 21 March 2023

Tomorrow, Wednesday 22nd March, the seasonal sites of Guernsey Museums will open for the summer.

This means Castle Cornet, the German Naval Signals Museum, and Fort Grey will open to the public. They will be open daily until the end of October, with a full calendar of events including the popular KPMG Castle Nights, Fete d'Etai and Pirates at the Fort.

Helen Glencross, Head of Heritage Services, said:

"We are excited about opening our doors to the public again this year for visits and events. In the UK, major attractions have recently reported a 25% fall in pre-Covid visitors. We fared much better in 2022, showing a strong recovery, and we look forward to building on that success".

While the sites were closed over the winter, there was an opportunity to undertake maintenance work. Staff have worked hard at the German Naval Signals HQ tidying the site. At Castle Cornet, Gunners Tower has been repointed which continues the ongoing programme of conservation.

Guernsey Museums have also run a staff training day for our new and returning visitor assistants.

Opening times at the German Naval Signals have been changed in response to staff and visitor feedback and will now open at 10.30am.

Guernsey Museum at Candie is already open and moves to summer opening times on the 26th March (10.00am - 5.00pm). The museum features a changing schedule of wonderful temporary exhibitions throughout the year. Finally, this year will see Discovery Pass holders receive 10% off purchases in the cafes at Guernsey Museum and Castle Cornet.
