Joy will be spread to some of Guernsey's older residents once again this Liberation Day, with more than 800 islanders set to receive an afternoon tea hamper.
Alongside the 500 individual tea hampers launched for private residents last week, Liberation Day organisers will also be gifting the hampers to care home residents to ensure everyone in the community can be involved on the special day.
For the third year running, the initiative is being sponsored by Guernsey Post, and the Guernsey Dairy is also showing its support by donating local dairy products for the hampers.
Packed with Guernsey gâche, banana bread, tea, butter, and milk, the hampers will be delivered in authentic-looking Red Cross Boxes with a ration card and themed postcards.
In the week leading up to Liberation Day, hampers will also be dropped off at Age Concern group sessions again this year.

'We thoroughly enjoy supporting this initiative, it is a collaboration between us, Guernsey Post and the Dairy so we are very grateful for their support, it means residents can receive their afternoon tea on Liberation Day itself and can look forward to enjoying afternoon tea together.'

'It is essential that we continue to mark the occasion of the island's liberation by getting the whole community involved. We are proud to be doing our bit by providing local dairy produce for this year's hampers.'
