From: To: Question Deputy Gollop Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure 1. The recent success of the We are Guernsey Green Finance week conference and fringe events showed the impact of offsetting environment loss, investment gains in biodiversity and ethical investment opportunities. Will the Committee seek increased partnership possibilities with the corporate sector locally? 2. The Green Party Conference (which I attended) had a session showing how light pollution& activity had changed starling bird migration patterns and other consequences. Will the Committee be considering new designs to protect our wildlife habitat and diversity? From: To: Question Deputy Soulsby Committee for Education, Sport & Culture 1. In response to Rule 14 questions, the Committee has explained that the GCSE results have yet to be validated following the completion of the formal appeals process. What is the overall percentage of results in mathematics that have been successfully appealed since 2019? 2. The Committee has advised, in response to the same Rule 14 questions, that the proportion of students who achieved Level 4 and above in mathematics GCSE was 57.7% and at Level 7 and above was 10.8%. Accepting that these results are as yet unvalidated, what was the percentage attained at each of the States-maintained secondary schools? 3. How many specialist mathematics teachers are there currently in each of the States-maintained secondary schools? From: To: Question Deputy Gollop Committee for Education, Sport & Culture 1. Recently the ESC President rightly praised Beau Sejour centre the theatre Eisteddfod and activities but said it wasn't washing its face financially and needed review.. When will the review conclude and will politicians as well as officers be involved in thus Review process? 2. Will the Review look at and especially consider diverse socioeconomic factors such as the Centre's contributions to combatting loneliness, supporting equity and diversity .mental health and well being and supporting juvenile and elderly people's activity? 3. The Public accounts Scrutiny review chaired by Deputy Heidi Soulsby in November 2015 considered it undesirable to outsource or privatise the leisure centre . Will that option be reconsidered as well as enhancing Beau Sejour centre income? From: To: Question Deputy St Pier Policy & Resources 1. In a reply dated March 2021 to a Rule 14 question in relation to the conviction in 1942 of a number of police officers, the Committee advised that, "A Policy Letter will be prepared and brought before the States of Deliberation this year."
In a reply dated May 2022 to a Rule 14 question, the Committee responded that, "The aim is for the relevant Policy Letter to be brought to the States for consideration later this year."
In a reply dated January 2023 to a Rule 14 question, the Committee responded that, "It is now intended to bring the matter to the States this year."
Having been unable to bring the Policy Letter to the States as previously indicated in 2021, 2022 or 2023, when will the Policy Letter be brought to the States?From: To: Question Deputy St Pier Committee for Health & Social Care 1. In October, the Health Services Safety Investigations Body was launched in England with the aim of becoming the global leader in professional, high quality healthcare safety investigations which, like aviation safety investigations, do not seek to find blame or liability with individuals or organisations.
Has or will the Committee give consideration to Guernsey's healthcare services seeking participation in the work of the Body?2A. Following the recently published request for Expressions of Interest for a one year secondment as the 'Speak Up Guardian and Designated Safeguarding Nurse,' responsible "for taking action to promote the speak up process and ensure that employees throughout the HSC have the capability, knowledge, and skills they need to speak up themselves and to support others to speak up," what consideration, if any, has the Committee given to ensuring that patients, their families and carers have similar support to enable them to speak up in order to express any concerns they may have in relation to patient safety, quality of care or outcomes, clinical practice or behaviours? 2B. Given the importance the Committee have themselves attached to safeguarding, why is the role being combined with that of the Designated Safeguarding Nurse role? 2C. Why is the role limited to one year? From: To: Question Deputy St Pier Policy & Resource Committee 1. Following the acts of terrorism by Hamas on 7th October, the President of the Committee stated, "we stand with Israel unequivocally against these acts of terrorism." Does the Policy & Resources Committee agree that, in exercising its legitimate rights to self-defence and in seeking the release of the hostages, the State of Israel is obligated to comply with international humanitarian law (the law of armed conflict); and that both sides in the conflict should be seeking an immediate and sustained ceasefire to allow the pursuit of a peaceful two state solution? From: To: Question Deputy Vermeulen States' Trading Supervisory Board 1. Exactly how strong is Guernsey's airport runway and will the States' Trading Supervisory Board be doing core samples to ascertain its exact strength? 2. Is the runway capable of taking the weight of airplanes that British Airways and EasyJet would use on Gatwick to Guernsey, taking into account that a vastly reduced fuel load would only be required on that route? 3. With regard to the three fog busting ATR aircraft that Aurigny operate, can you confirm that the capital, depreciation and repayment of interest on the States loan (4% bond money), appear on the Cabernet/Aurigny profit and loss account?
