This week is Learning Disability Week and the focus this year is to show the world the incredible things that people with a learning disability achieve, smashing misconceptions about what people can do, and shining a light on the stigma many face every day.
To mark the week in Guernsey, staff and service users will be visiting a couple of locations to meet people and show them what people with a learning disability can do, engage with the public, and let people know what recruitment opportunities are available.
Mandy Mackelworth, Service Manager, Adult Disability Services said:
'We will be out and about this week raising awareness of Learning Disability Week and busting myths about living life with a learning disability.
The team will be in the PEH canteen Friday 23 June between 11 am and 2pm and have a stall at this weekend's Seafront Sunday. Please come along and have a chat and see some of the incredible things that our service users can do. Hopefully people will be inspired and may even consider joining our team and working with this incredible group of service users.'
