In March this year, our Community Services staff found themselves on the front-line fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
Based at the Castel Hospital, they were swiftly deployed to support the Islands care homes to care for those who had contracted COVID-19, provide support in the community to those isolating as a result of contracting the virus and supporting families who sadly lost loved ones to COVID-19.
To kick off HSC's Christmas celebrations this year, taking place on Wednesday 2 December at 5.30pm, Reverend Linda Le Vasseur and the Hope Choir will be leading a Community Services Christmas lights switch on at the Castel Hospital.
December 2 also marks National Grief Awareness Week. To mark this, the rainbow at Princess Elizabeth Hospital will be lit with yellow lights (yellow is the colour for remembering those whose lives have been affected by COVID-19) and yellow ribbons will be available for those attending the switch on at the Castel Hospital to tie on the Christmas tree as a mark of remembrance.
The ribbons have been supplied by the Guernsey Bereavement Service for this event. All are welcome to attend.
