Children are being encouraged to get creative in the kitchen this Liberation Day, with free baking bottles filled with the ingredients to make cupcakes. For the third year running, Credit Suisse will be supporting the project to inspire some Liberation Day spirit amongst young islanders.
When added to milk, butter and eggs, each bottle will contain enough ingredients to make 12 cupcakes which can be decorated and enjoyed on the special day.
Free Liberation activity packs featuring themed crosswords, word searches, colouring sheets and a cavalcade checklist will also be available. It is hoped the creative activities will be a fun way for children and their families to get involved with Liberation Day celebrations.
Deputy Sue Aldwell, Committee for Education, Sport and Culture, said:
'It is crucial that local children learn about such a significant day in the Island's history. The baking bottles and activity packs are a fun way for them to get involved with celebrating Guernsey's freedom.'
Glen Tonks, Chief Executive at Credit Suisse Guernsey, said:
'We are very excited to be supporting Bailiwick children in commemorating Liberation Day again this year. We hope these creative activities will bring families together on this day of celebration and we encourage as many parents and guardians as possible to come and pick up a pack.'
A special Credit Suisse stand will be set up in Market Square on 3rd, 4th and 5th of May, from 12-2pm. One bottle and activity pack can be collected per family for free.
