Public Health Services is asking individuals who were identified as a positive case of COVID-19 in the Bailiwick between September 2020 and March 2021 to complete a questionnaire about their experiences.
The questionnaire, which should take no more than 15 minutes to complete, will help the team to understand:
- the possible healthcare needs of people who have had COVID-19; and
- how these needs may differ according to which variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus a person was infected with; and
- how these needs may differ according to whether they were fully or partially vaccinated against COVID-19 at the time of their infection.
Dr Brink, Director of Public Health, said:
'It is really important that we learn more about how COVID-19 impacted on those who contracted the virus between the first and second waves of infection (6th September until 21st January), as well as those who became infected during Wave 2. Of particular interest is the impact of the Kent variant that was circulating in Wave 2. We are also interested to learn more about the effect of vaccination. This survey will inform how we plan and improve services for Islanders who may contract the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the future, as well as providing information on the long-term impact in people who have had COVID-19 locally.'
The survey is open from today until 31 May 2021 and can be completed online here: https://gov.gg/covidsurvey
Paper copies of the survey can be requested by calling 01481 227311 or by emailing publichealth@gov.gg
Parents/guardians of children aged under-16 who had a positive diagnosis of coronavirus are invited to complete the survey on behalf of the child.
The survey has been reviewed and approved by the Health & Social Care Ethics Committee. Information will be treated in the strictest confidence and will not be shared with other States of Guernsey service areas without consent.
