Islanders invited to comment on draft Development Framework for St Martin's Hotel

Thursday 19 January 2023

Islanders are invited to comment on a draft Development Framework that has been prepared to guide potential development within the boundaries of St Martin's Hotel.

As currently drafted, the Development Framework provides planning guidance for a potential sheltered housing development, although it states that other types of residential development may be considered.

The Development & Planning Authority is now inviting comments on the draft Development Framework by e-mail at planning@gov.gg or in writing to the Authority over the next four weeks until Friday 17th February 2023.

The draft Development Framework is available at gov.gg/developmentframeworks, reference DF/2020/0007.

The 1.25 hectares (7.6 vergées) site is located within the St Martin's Local Centre, as set out within the IDP. To the south of the site are the local amenities and services of St Martin's including supermarkets, a doctor's surgery and a physiotherapy practice. The surrounding built environment is residential but with a number of fields identified as Agriculture Priority Areas to the north and east of the site.

As with all draft Development Frameworks, this document has been prepared by Planning Service officers for the purpose of providing broad, comprehensive, impartial and practical planning guidance on how the Island Development Plan 2016 policies will be applied if any planning application is made for the site.

The draft framework invites public consultation, and we would encourage all those with an interest in this site to have their say. The political members of the Development & Planning Authority have not had input into the draft framework but after all of the feedback has been received, they will make a decision on whether it should be approved and become Supplementary Planning Guidance for the site in question.
