Islanders invited to comment on Community Plan for St Peter's

Tuesday 16 April 2024

The Development & Planning Authority is inviting islanders to comment on a Community Plan for St Peter's prepared by local residents.

A Community Plan is a document which sets out how those who live, work and spend time in the area would like to see their local area change in the future.

Community Plans are taken into account by the Authority when assessing proposals for development within the area and also help developers understand the types of development which will be supported by the local community.

The Community Plan for St Peter's which was developed by a local independent committee in consultation with parishioners includes proposals for retail, traffic, community uses and housing.

The plan can be viewed at gov.gg/stpetercommunityplan and all islanders are invited to provide their comments via e-mail at planning@gov.gg or in writing to the Development & Planning Authority, Sir Charles Frossard House, La Charroterie, GY1 1FH.

The closing date for comments is Tuesday 28th May.

If the comments received confirm that the Community Plan is supported by islanders and there are no reasonable objections, the Development & Planning Authority will then consider this for approval as Supplementary Planning Guidance.

Deputy Victoria Oliver, President of the Development & Planning Authority, said:

"Community Plans are a really good way to hear what residents want to happen in their local area, I am so pleased that we have had our first Community plan and look forward to your views. As a Committee, we haven't had input into this plan; this has been drafted by the local community in St Peter's for the local community in St Peter's.

"If you live in the area, use the area regularly, or are just interested in this part of the island, please take a look at the plan and let us know if you have any comments so that we can make sure that this plan is welcomed by all."
