Parking arrangements for first events of Island Games

Wednesday 05 July 2023

To create sufficient space to ensure the smooth running of a number of road-based events for the 2023 Island Games, there will be a number of parking suspensions in place in addition to the already publicised road closures.

Opening ceremony - Saturday 8th July

With the seafront closed from 4pm-9pm, there will be several parking suspensions in place to facilitate the opening ceremony and parade from North beach to Albert Pier.

People are encouraged to make use of the free buses, additional bicycle parking spaces and the Park and Stride/Ride at the top of Le Val de Terres. More information about transport for the games is available at gov.gg/active-travel-for-island-games

The parking suspensions in place for the opening ceremony are:

North Beach

Albert Pier

Crown Pier

The Quay

There will be designated blue badge parking available on Saturday 8th July, 12pm-9pm on the first three parking sections of the North Beach access road, excluding areas reserved for marine traders.

From Thursday 6th July to Saturday 15th July there will also be a number of parking suspensions around the Model Yacht Pond which are being coordinated by Guernsey Harbours.

Triathlon - Sunday 9th July

To support the set-up and the smooth running of the triathlon, the following parking suspensions will be in place:

Portelet to Rue de la Viltole

Route de la Lague

Cycling time trial - Monday 10th July

On Monday 10th July, 9am-1pm, there will be no access in or out of all west coast car parks from Portlet to The Puffin & Oyster Restaurant.

From 7am-1pm, parking will be suspended on Route de la Lague, including adjacent to Fort Grey, and along Rue de Longfrie from 7am-5pm.

Victoria Avenue

For the football taking place at Victoria Avenue, parking will be suspended on the north side of the road on 9th, 10th, 11th and 13th July between 5pm-9pm.

For all parking suspensions, the usual signs will be in place, however, any vehicles left in suspended parking areas will need to be removed at the owner's expense.

Information about road closures during the Island Games has been published by the Island Games Organising Committee.
