Employment Permits are granted to people who have been invited to live in Guernsey because of their employment skills, or because Guernsey doesn't have enough people to undertake all the jobs that need filling. Employment Permits can only be applied for by an Employer on behalf of an Employee.
Most Employment Permits enable the holder to live and work in Guernsey for a fixed period of time but some people, because of the skills they have, will be invited to live in Guernsey for long enough for them and their

The Employment Permit Policy details a list of roles which have been recognised as being those where the necessary skill-set and/or labour is in short supply locally. Therefore employers can make applications for Employment Permits to enable people to move to live and work in those roles in Guernsey.
Employment Permits are conditional on the holder doing a specific full-time job (usually at least 35 hours a week) for a specific employer. If this condition is broken, the Permit becomes invalid.
