The move from primary to secondary school

Moving from primary to secondary school can be an anxious experience. From September 2019, children will attend the secondary school that is partnered with their primary school.

For students currently in Year 6 and below, the partner schools are as follows:

This transition will happen automatically, requiring no action from parents and carers.

Open evenings will be held in the Autumn Term before the students are due to start secondary school, and the relevant school will contact parents/carers directly with details of transition days, uniform requirements and other school administration matters.

There are a number of things you can do to help make the transition to secondary school easier and help your child settle into their new school including:

Give your child a few weeks to settle in. Ensure you know who to contact for any situation, and the school's preferred means of contact. If they are having any problems, social or educational, make an appointment to see their form tutor.
