  • Bank Care and Support Staff

    The States of Guernsey are looking for a caring and committed individual to join their Care and Support Staff Team. Under the general direction of the Extra Care Scheme Manager, to provide personal care, basic health care and practical support as determined by assessed needs to enable individuals to live as independently as possible in their own home. This will involve providing services to encourage tenant functional rehabilitation. To be part of a care support team, providing a flexible service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including bank holidays. Part-time shift work, 8am-3pm or 3pm-10pm, includes weekend and Bank Holiday working.

    Within Children's Residential Services, there are three Group Homes delivering 24-hour care for looked after children from the ages of 12 to 18, working as part of a six week rota system alongside other professionals and in partnership with parents. In this role, you will be responsible for promoting a caring environment which provides children and young people with a high standard of care, meeting individual needs and ensuring children and their families are treated with respect and dignity. We are looking for motivated and confident individuals who are passionate about working with young people in an environment that promotes their social, emotional, physical, behavioural, educational and moral development. Your ability to communicate, motivate and engage with the young people will be essential, advocating on their behalf and supporting them to achieve their potential.

    Are you patient and caring and compassionate with a good sense of humour? Do you have excellent communication skills? Are you interested in a career within the caring team providing support to our Adult Disability Service Users? As a Support Worker, you will be based either within our Outreach, Supported Living or Short break Service Teams. You will help provide excellent support to our Service Users based within either the community or residing within our residential home settings. Teaching life skills and helping people live an ordinary life will be one of your main goals as a support worker, providing emotional and practical help, so Service Users can live a happy, life as independently as possible. You won't just be helping our Service Users, you'll also be helping the people that can be forgotten; the families and friends who may just need a helping hand or someone to listen, whatever their need, you'll need to support them just as much.

    Children and Family Community Services are looking for a Social Work Assistant to join their Locality Team. The postholder will provide basic frontline social care to children and families and to assist social workers in the assessment of children in need and their families. Some of the main responsibilities for this role will include; undertaking child in need assessments, liaising with external agencies to gather information, attend and participate in Tribunal meetings, Child Protection Conferences, Planning and Review meetings, Team Around the Child (TAC) as required, you will also formulate and implement plans for children using the TAC process.
