In the live briefing on Wednesday 10th February, Dr Brink confirmed that Surge Testing would be starting across areas where there were known cases of COVID-19.
A number of infections with the virus that causes COVID-19 were seen in our schools, with certain schools more affected than others. Children who attended these schools may well have cleared their infections. However, we know that within-household transmission has been a prominent feature of this outbreak. Therefore it is possible that we may have some ongoing active infection among the household contacts.
Parents/carers and other household members who are essential workers and are currently working are being offered a 'one off' test, even if they don't have symptoms or their household has not been affected by COVID-19.
A parent/carer or household member is eligible for a test if you:
- haven't been tested in the past week;
- have not been told you have COVID-19 in the last three weeks, or been told by the Contact Tracing team in Public Health that you are a contact of a case;
- are currently working outside the home as an Essential Worker for any amount of time.
This testing is entirely voluntary and is to help us try and find undetected infections.
Please complete the online form available below if you would like a test.
