The Institute of Health and Social Care Studies forms the training and education arm of Health and Social Care (HSC). It provides a range of education and training opportunities in response to the health and social care needs of the Bailiwick. Courses are delivered by a team of highly skilled staff in a purpose built facility on the Princess Elizabeth Hospital site.

  • BACHELOR OF ARTS (HONOURS) DEGREE IN PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE

    • This programme provides opportunities for health and social care professionals to obtain an Honours Degree.  The course is recognised by the University of East Anglia who will award the final qualification.  It is based on the student's work area, and is designed to enable them to develop their knowledge and skills as health and social care practitioners.
At present students cannot enter the full programme but may undertake single modules as Continuing Professional Learning.  The university will give academic credit upon successful completion of a module.
It is expected that the students will already hold a professional qualification and be a registered health and social care professional.
The Institute is currently seeking to make arrangement with a different university to enable a similar programme to be run during the 2016/17 academic year.

  • POST GRADUATE PROGRAMMES

    • These programmes are designed for people working in any of the health and social care professions who already have a degree.  The course is a partnership between the Institute and Middlesex University.  Students can choose to study towards gaining one of the following qualifications:
    • ·         Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice
      ·         Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Education
      ·         Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Practice
      ·         Masters Degree
      ·         Single Continuing Professional Development Modules
    • There is shared learning between the different qualifications and students can choose modules that are most appropriate to their area of work.  The modules are designed to be flexible in content to allow students to concentrate on relevant learning for their roles.  These roles include working as an Advanced Practitioner, in Teaching and Learning, or as a Leader and Management.  Students may also take a more specialised course elsewhere and apply for the learning to be used to count towards this programme.
Students will usually already have an honours degree relevant to an area of Health and Social care, although other experience and qualification may be considered.
