The number of jobseekers without work at the end of September was 291, an increase of 8 from the previous month.
Compared to the same time last year, the total number of people with no work and with some work has decreased slightly, however a higher number have no work. This may be as a result of the scarcity of casual work at this time.
The Job Centre promoted 297 jobs in September.
A number of training schemes and placements were run through the Job Centre to support people into employment. At the end of September there were 55 people on training schemes such as Work to Benefit, Kickstart and placements with the third sector.
The number of new claims for employment and income-related benefits increased, with 38 new claims made, compared with 29 in the previous month.
