As its new term of office approaches, the States of Guernsey is seeking expressions of interest from local residents wishing to be considered for non-States membership of the financial watchdog the Public Accounts Committee.
Unlike other Committees and Departments, the Public Accounts Committee is the only Committee in the States of Guernsey that has non-States members who are elected by the States and have a vote during the decision making process.
The impartial experience that non-States members bring from the commercial world of finance/banking, the legal profession or prior knowledge of the workings of the States, compliments and balances the roles of the politicians on the Committee.
Candidates are not required to have any formal qualifications however, an interest/experience in financial related matters would be highly desirable with potential candidates not afraid to ask searching questions sometimes within a public setting.
All expressions of interest should be received at the Committee's offices in Sir Charles Frossard House by Thursday 3 May 2012 with Nominations and Elections for membership taking place on 11 May 2012 in the States of Deliberation.
