Next Planning and Building Control Householder Advice Surgery:

Friday 29 June 2012

The next Planning and Building Control Householder Advice Surgery will be held on Saturday 7 July at the Forest Douzaine Room.

The advice surgery will be a useful source of information for Islanders who are considering improvements to their home or garden but are not sure how the Planning or Building Regulations may apply to them.

Speaking on behalf of the Department, Jim Rowles, Director of Planning Control Services said:

"This is the fifth in a series of householder Advice Surgeries, which have proved to be really popular. Like our other surgeries, it will give Islanders the opportunity to talk to Planning and Building Control staff in person about any works that they may be considering. It's not a public meeting - just an open, informal session where members of the public can drop in to pick up some information and ask a few questions.

Staff will be able to provide advice on making a Planning or Building Control application, works that in some circumstances can be carried out without permission - include roof lights, extensions, sun lounges, conservatories, sheds, garages, greenhouses, gates, fences, walls and earth banks, domestic fuel containers and cesspits or soakaways.

We would be pleased to provide advice and hope that Islanders will take the opportunity to come along and talk to our staff."

Staff will also be able to provide advice on where and how Islanders can access Planning and Building Control information, or set up a meeting with Planning and Building Control to discuss plans in detail.

The Advice Surgery at the Forest Douzaine Room (Rue Des Landes, Forest, GY8 0HF) will be the fifth Advice Surgery of this kind to be held by the Department. The Department is looking to hold an Advice Surgery in each parish and would be keen to hear from businesses or organisations in other parishes who may like to volunteer a space in their premises for the next Advice Surgery (anticipated in the Autumn).

Please contact planning@gov.gg to suggest a prospective venue, with the subject as 'Householder Advice Surgery'.
