Tuesday 29 October 2013

The Scrutiny Committee is announcing the dates of its hearing into the Security of Guernsey's Electricity Supply.

The hearings form part of the Scrutiny Committee's review into the Security of Guernsey's Electricity Supply and follow a comprehensive consultation exercise and information gathering period.

The hearings will be held in Room 6 at the Royal Court from 9am on Wednesday 6th November and 9am on Wednesday 13th November. A number of government and non-States witnesses have been invited to attend to give evidence on the current security of electricity supply policy. Witnesses will be asked questions on the adequacy of the current policy for electricity security. Representatives of Guernsey Electricity will also be attending to answer questions on the current policy for future investment to ensure the security of Guernsey's electricity supply.

The Review Panel will comprise Alderney Representative Paul Arditti (chair), Deputies Scott Ogier, Paul Le Pelley, Lester Queripel and Barry Paint.

Mr Arditti said:

"This will be the Scrutiny Committee's second public hearing during this States term following the AFR review in March. The Panel will be hearing a number of witnesses over the two days in order to gain a greater appreciation of the current policy on security of electricity supply and to question whether it is fit for purpose".

Members of the public are welcome to attend the hearings.
