At the December meeting of the States approval was given for the proposals put forward by the Environment Department for the establishment of a Register of Driving Instructors.
Documentation and the required information technology have been put into place such that the Department can now consider applications from suitable individuals and organisations seeking to be included on the register.
At the present time registration is purely voluntary - a mandatory register will be established once the appropriate legal framework has been put into place. Those seeking to be admitted onto the Register are required to undertake a satisfactory criminal records check and sign a Code of Conduct and Good Practice, which sets out the terms and conditions with which all registered driving instructors must comply.
Anyone wishing to learn more about registration should contact the Environment Department, Traffic and Transport Services, on 243400, email: env@gov.gg. An information pack is available and further information is available on our website at www.gov.gg/drivinginstructors.
