Deputy Robert Jones, Chair of the Scrutiny Committee, said:
"The Scrutiny Committee welcomes the publication of the Islands Child Protection Committee (ICPC) annual report for 2014 and confirms that this document will be considered by Kathleen Marshall alongside the substantial volume of evidence already submitted to the Committees ongoing review of the implementation of the Children Law.
The Committee particularly welcomes the increased focus being provided on this area from the HSSD Chief Officer speaking as the interim chair of the ICPC. The ICPC clearly has an important role moving forward under an independent chair to ensure that the appropriate coordination and independent oversight is in place across the agencies involved in protecting children".
