The Environment Department approved a draft Development Brief for the former GT Cars site on the 16th February 2012. The Board is now seeking comments from the general public on the redevelopment approach for the site put forward by the Department.
The former GT Cars site on Les Bas Courtils has lain largely unused for nearly 20 years. The draft Development Brief sets out the planning and urban design principles proposed by the Department to bring the site forward for redevelopment.
Deputy Peter Sirett, Minister of the Environment Department commented:
"There has long been a need to breathe some life into this site, which has remained unused and littered with half driven piles
for nearly 20 years. The ground conditions are complicated and may limit the nature of possible development; but working with the site owners
we are confident that this unused, unattractive area can be developed to make a positive contribution to Guernsey's
environment and economy. The Board now welcomes comments from the public on the planning and design principles proposed for its regeneration.
Once all responses have been considered the Board will decide on the final Development Brief."
Copies of the Draft Development Brief are available from the Environment Reception desk at Sir Charles Frossard House or may be viewed on the States of Guernsey website here. Comments are invited by 17:00 on Friday 16 March 2012. Comments can be sent to the Environment Department by:
