Adult Community Services are seeking expressions of interest from islanders to be part of a Learning Disability Partnership Board for the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
The purpose of this group is to create a forum which brings together people who have a learning disability, carers, and key organisations, both statutory and 3rd sector.
The Learning Disability Partnership Board will provide strategic oversight of the development and implementation of the Learning Disability Framework which forms part of the Disability & Inclusion Strategy. The group will also identify new and emerging issues that people who have learning disability face and jointly plan initiatives which can address these.
Will Jones, Manager - Community Learning Disability and Autism Team said:
'The setting up of this new Board and the development and implementation of the Learning Disability Framework is an exciting step forward for the Bailiwick. I am delighted that the Board will have co-chairs - one of whom will have a learning disability - so that the Board can benefit from lived experience.'
