Environment Department response to media enquiry from Guernsey Press.
Guernsey Press enquiry:
We are running a story tomorrow about the fire at Idlerocks last night and I am hoping to have a statement from the environment department on the following topics:
When was the last discussion about what to do with the derelict hotel after the fire in 2003?
What plans were made?
Are there/were there any plans to redevelop the hotel?
What is happening now - plans/developments etc?
Basically any other details/information the department is able to give would be greatly appreciated.
Environment Department response:
The Environment Department has been concerned by the state of the Idlerocks Hotel for many years. While no application has been made since the fire in 2003, there have been informal discussions on the potential redevelopment of this fantastic hotel site, and it is in the hands of the owners to bring forward proposals to recreate an Hotel.
